Fix the Grid

BACKGROUND

Climate change is a meteorological phenomenon, but its policy urgency stems largely from its impacts on human communities. People around the world, including in Texas, already are feeling the impacts of a changing climate. These impacts fall disproportionately on individuals and communities who are least resilient to them, creating imperatives for policies that are rooted in deeply held, widely shared beliefs about our responsibility to each other.

Medicaid Expansion

BACKGROUND

Every day, a million Texans wake up uninsured because lawmakers won’t accept the federal funds that have been available to us for more than a decade. It is unconscionable that they would allow Texans to suffer and die for partisan political gain. State leaders are throwing away money our state could use to relieve pressure on schools, infrastructure, and public safety. Our hospitals are closing, our friends and neighbors are sick and nervous, our local taxes are strained, our foundational systems are buckling…please Texas Legislature: just take the money!

Hate-Free Elections

BACKGROUND

Candidates for public office have a special obligation to oppose public expressions of hate. In this election year, Texas Impact calls on candidates for office at all levels of government to condemn language or actions that express antisemitism; Islamophobia; or religious bigotry, and to distance themselves from supporters and donors who endorse or engage in such language or actions.
